We are two friends who share a love of creating things with glass. We work from our purpose-built ‘studio’ on the outskirts of the beautiful, if windy, city of Durham in the north-east of England.
'Anila' means 'wind' or 'air' in Sanskrit, so the name represents the location of our studio, our friendship and our families. Family life and friendships are ever changing, like the wind. Life is sometimes rushed, like a whirlwind or hurricane, sometimes more leisurely, like a breeze. But fluid, like glass.
Glass is actually a liquid. A very 'solid' sort of liquid, but one which moves, almost imperceptibly, all the time. This is why we sometimes see a blurred effect at the bottom of very old windows. The glass has, over the years, moved slowly downwards.
All our products are hand-made, so whatever you order, your piece will be truly unique.
